The Fab 5!

Allow me to introduce our Design Team!

My name is Dawne Ivey. I am a stay-at-home mom to two beautiful girls and a wife to my loving and supportive husband, William. I live in Pensacola, Florida, right in the heart of the Gulf Coast area.

I started scrapbooking in 1998 and have enjoyed a transformation of my artistic abilities as products and techniques have changed. I would describe my style as “clean and linear,” though I love to dabble in all styles and am willing to try new and different techniques, products and styles. A few of my scrapbooking idols would be Cathy Zielske & Jenni Bowlin. I feel it is important to produce projects that draw focus to the photo and journaling. I consider myself very versatile and I’m always striving to reach new levels of artistry. I am very passionate about my hobby because it’s a creative outlet for me, not to mention I gain satisfaction from my art.

The main inspiration for my scrapbooking is my family. With two beautiful daughters, a wonderful husband and two dogs, not to mention a very large extended family, I’m never at a loss for inspiration to scrap. I gain inspiration from billboards, magazine ads, clothing, color palettes, other scrappers, on-lines galleries….just about anything in my everyday living.

I am honored to be on the design team for Scrap Fabulous & I look forward to all the fun we will have.

My name is Karan Gerber and I reside in south central Ontario, Canada in a small town known as Sebringville, which is 40 minutes west of Kitchener. I reside here with my husband Glenn and our two boys Elijah (10) and Galen (7).

My husband Glenn is self employed in the Agricultural construction field and has been for 25 years and I tend to all the administration for his business. When im not tending to my family, or dh business, you can often find me down in my scrapbook studio, creating.

I first began scrap booking when a neighbour invited me to come to a CM party and I was immediately hooked. This was 9 years ago !

My pages revolve around sharing my love for my family. Having only a handful of pictures of myself growing up, I felt it important to capture as many memories with my children and family as I could. My passion for this hobby defiinitely shows in the pages i create.

I truly enjoy the challenge of working with new products and trying new techniques. I am a savvy scrapbooker and I love playing with texture and embellishments, paints, stamps, metals and fabric. The majority of my work is done in a 12x12 format. I also thoroughly enjoy making unique mini books, tag books, cards and albums, and just about any other paper arts projects I stumble upon.

I am so very honoured to be part of Scrap Fabulous Design team, and I know I will do Scrap Fab Proud!!!

My name is Amy Duquette and I live in the southern most part of Ontario, Canada. I started scrapbooking as a way to release my creativity after being laid off from my graphic design job of 7 years. My step-mom had showed me an album she had been working on about my son and I just loved everything about it. She invited me to a small family crop and with my cousin Laura's help they had me hooked.

After many family crops and an overnight trip to the Great Lakes Mega Meet in Novi, Mighigan I decided that I wanted to get more serious about it and start applying to Design Teams to see what would happen, testing the waters a bit. I was lucky enough to be chosen for the first Design Team I applied for at Creative Crafts and Stickers, a Canadian site, which was great since I am Canadian. It was a 6 month term and I was able to experiment with a wide variety of products that helped me grow as a traditional paper scrapper.

In August of 2006 my family suffered a huge loss with the sudden death of my step-mom while on a camping trip with my dad. This turned my life upside down and I just could not get into scrapbooking any longer. It wasn't until I discovered the digi side of scrapbooking that I was able to get back into things. I loved being able to experiment with different kits and brushes and fonts and not worry about messing anything up because I could just close the layout and start again...no worries...no mess.

My graphic design background has helped me immensely and I have found a way to incorporate digital into my traditional paper layouts and have once again became an obsessed paper scrapper. I have made peace with the passing of my step-mom and although it was a HUGE loss for us I know she would want me to continue to follow my dreams and achieve my goals.

My name is La Tonya Boike and I am a stay at home mom of 3 boys and a wife to Barry, the greatest husband in the world! I live in Cullman, Alabama.

I’ve been scrapbooking for about 4 years now and would describe my scrapping style as eclectic. While I love adding non-scrapbooking items to my pages and art to create a shabby chic feel, I believe it is important to produce layouts drawing more focus to the photo, which sometimes require clean, simple lines. I am very versatile and enjoy experimenting with new techniques, and am always striving to reach new levels of artistry.

I believe scrapbooking is an outlet to share our creativity and our love for our families and our individualities. A way to meet wonderful new friends; share our joys and sorrows; to simply be the person we were created to be and express ourselves with paper and altered art. I love working with a design team because this gives me the opportunity to meet new people who share the love of scrapbooking and to create layouts using the latest and most popular products and techniques. I’m so excited to be part of the family here at Scrapfabulous. I look forward to getting to know everyone and I know we’re going to have a great time!

I am Carla Jones and God has blessed my life fully! I have been married to Bill, my high school sweetheart, for 17 years and am called Mom by one beautiful 10 year old daughter, Carley. She is my muse and keeps us very busy. Her love of life and her fiery personality makes our lives very interesting, but always fun! The rolling piney hills of Northern Louisiana are our home.

I have been scrapbooking in some form or other since I was a little girl, but was introduced to it formally at a CM party when Carley was a year old. I knew then that this would be a lifelong hobby, constantly changing, constantly growing but would always be there for me whenever I needed a creative outlet. Not only do I enjoy telling my family what they mean to me through my layouts and journaling, but I also love the creative side of scrapbooking too! I strive to create interesting eye catching layouts that others will enjoy viewing and draw inspiration from.

I've grown and developed my style through the years. I'm a graphic shabby chic sort of girl that loves distressing and using bold titles. I embrace change in the scrapbooking world and am always on the lookout for new and unique products and new techniques to try.

Our Guest Designer for the Month of July!

Hi all! I'm Shaunna! I am 25 years old, living in rural Northeast Ohio with my fiance, Travis, and our pets: Alex, the Mini-Australian Shepherd and Neko, the cat. I am also the proud mother of the cutest, smartest six year old boy you'll ever meet - his name is Brodyn.

I am currently a Stay-at-Home Scrapbooker, but I also freelance graphics and do a little web design in my spare time. I am also currently pursuing invitations to teach classes at a few local scrapbook and craft stores, as well as designing a few lines of digital scrapbooking elements. I have always been a gatherer of pictures and ephemera, and had no idea that there was even such a thing as scrapbooking until a year and a half ago, and I haven't stopped or looked back since! I like to describe my style as a "candy store" - I love pages with lots to look at and rarely do I make two pages that look the same! I like to draw my inspiration from scrappers like Adrienne Looman and Elsie Flannigan, and I LOVE to doodle. My favorite "toys" right now are felt and fabric accents, Gel pens, and bright colors.

My flair for creativity extends beyond the scrapbook page, as I also enjoy altering and the occasional card. I love that I can use paper and stickers and pens to express myself creatively and have a unique treasury of memories and everyday things for the future!
